Re: Replacement Cylinder head

I didnt realise that he can make any head to the 12h2709 spec. I have only seen a couple non 2709 heads come up on Ebay, all being returned already. Maybe it's just a waiting game! How much should I be looking to spend on a standard centre oil feed head?

Replacement Cylinder head

Hi Guys, The history of this story is that my current 12H2709 is cracked beyond repair. I was contemplating doing a V8 swap but i have decided against the idea now, maybe next time. Therefore, I have been looking for a replacement 12H2709 head. There are a few on ebay but not sure if they're worth t...

Re: Cracked Head

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies! After a lot of arguing with myself i have decided that i want to embark on a V8 conversion as its what i have always wanted. The current 1800 is toast (block is utterly worn and the head, well, you know about that!) so would need over a grand putting into it to get i...

Cracked Head

Hi Guys, Hope everyone's doing well. Unfortunately upon cleaning the head up this weekend to send off the Peter Burgess (for the ecotune work), I have noticed a crack between cyl 1 and 2 (see pics below). I emailed some pics to Peter himself and he thinks the head is toast. This wouldn't worry that ...

Re: Engine rebuild

Hi Peter, Thanks again for the reply. Sorry yes you're right, ill need cam followers regardless. Did you see the picture of the wear that I attached? Each pushrod is worn in the same way, its an odd wear pattern is it not? Yeah i have read about running the engine at 2000+ revs for at-least 20 minut...

Re: Engine rebuild

Thanks for the replies! Luckily I found a brand new 3 part Borg and Beck kit on eBay for £12 so that was my bargain the other week. The current cam shaft looks to be in perfect condition, however I am going top get a piper 270 cam along with a peter Burgess Ecotune head. I will definitely need new f...

Engine rebuild

Hi Guys, Just wondering what you think of the prices i have been given to have the machining done on my engine. I am rebuilding it myself but obviously need the machining done by a specialist. I am getting it done by a local shop that has very good recommendations and it highly regarded. - Lighten a...

Re: Taller suspension for a trials MGB

Hi Peter, Yeah that's the one! We will be competing in events such as the Exeter Trial. I helped marshal at the VSCC Exmoor Fringe Trial and have been looking for an Austin 7 since then. Unfortunately, the ulster style ones and specials that i like are a bit over my budget. I trialed an austin 7 top...

Taller suspension for a trials MGB

Hi Guys, My father and I want to do some trials events and would love to do it in a B GT. We would start with a rubber bumper car as its taller in the first place, but does anyone know how we could heighten it some more? Is there anywhere that we can purchase springs that increase the ride height? O...

Re: Kangol Seat-belts - Bargain?

Thanks for the replies.

My B already has inertia seat-belts fitted, so i can use the mounting points that are already in place. They are most definitely unused NOS parts so i'm confident in their usability.
I will check them out properly upon receipt and will decide thereafter.

Thanks,
Harry.
