Re: Cracked Head
It's toast. There is another consideration. did this come off your car? And if not does your car have an 18V engine as the 2709 head requires cutouts for the exhaust valves which are only present on 18V? A 12H1326 or 4736 can be retro-fitted with larger valves. I have had my 1326 done by Peter But i...

Re: An electrical puzzle?
ian How did you connect the unit to the fusebox? a standard supplied croc clip? I suspect yes & the issue may be the quality of the connection you have to your power source. Ever tried to jump a car battery and it won't - then you waggle the clips and it works? When you put your mater on the fuse yo...

Re: Gaz dampers.
I bought GAZ for B front & rear plus parabolics. front rubbed on inner tyre at full lock. had to install spacers for MOT. rears went at 2 years. GAZ rebuilt. That was 6 month ago and they have gone again. But it's a knocking. The guy at GAZ said that they were incorrectly angled due to the (GAZ?) up...

Re: timing lights??

Clarke at Machinemart sell a lot of Sealey tools re-branded as Clarke. Just bough one of their leakdown testers and once the wind dies down a bit looki...

Is that one you bought recently? wondering where from. MGOC have a habit of 'sports' and 'performance' descriptions rather than specs. wondered if it's one they sell.

Re: Multimeters
I just bought an Extech EX330, autoranging. But no RPM. Well known brand for meters.
I was in a similar situation. Read/watched many reviews and to date (6 months later) seems to do the job well.
I recall it was £45.

Re: Rev Counter Bounce, Backfire & Stall
Erratic/unusual behaviour of the Tach does suggest the LT circuit as Vic previously stated. The exhaust backfire is commonly unburned fuel - unburned due to ignition fault causing weak or no spark in many cases. As the car will not start, it may be easier to locate than an intermittent fault so time...
