I want to replace my ageing multimeter so I looked on line but couldn't find what I wanted.
I want a meter that measures DC voltage up to 24, amps, milliamps, ohms, rpm.and circuit continuity. I want a good quality meter not some cheap rubbish from eBay.
Any ideas anyone please?

Vic, I'm no expert in autoelectrics but this is the one I bought a little while ago. Very good instructions that even I can follow.
I would need to check tomorrow if it is exactly the same as the one I have - in my garage so I can look tomorrow if you wish?

Re: Multimeters
P.s. doesn't measure rpm as it is a general purpose multimeter, not specifically for autos.

Re: Multimeters
Thanks Ian. I need a specific automotive one with 24 volts reading if possible as some ex military Land Rovers were 24 volts.

Re: Multimeters
Vic, I never found an auto multimeter which was good enough to use for other electrical work (including car wiring etc.), so I use a cheaper Gunson type meter for rpm and dwell, but this meter for everything else. It really is versatile, accurate and very easy to use.

Re: Multimeters
Hi Vic
Most good quality multimeters are autoranging so will no problem when reading 24 V. Take a look at the Fluke 88v automotive .Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Re: Multimeters
That does look good Michael, but a little out of my price range!!
The layout looks very similar to the Mastech meter I think?

Thanks Michael. I did look at the Fluke but like Ian it's out of my price range.

Re: Multimeters
I just bought an Extech EX330, autoranging. But no RPM. Well known brand for meters.
I was in a similar situation. Read/watched many reviews and to date (6 months later) seems to do the job well.
I recall it was £45.

Re: Multimeters
I've read that even cheap multimeters are pretty good, and that's certainly borne out by mine - Gunson Pocketmeter 2. It's given years of good service, mainly on the volts, resitance and continuity settings.
Currently yours on Ebay for £13.
