Refurbishment

Good Morning,

I had a request come through looking for a bit of info..

"Hi Paul,

Was searching for an MGB (well a page for older classics)

I don’t have an MGB but wondered if you could help me. I’m trying to find a place that can refurb a wooden steering wheel and gear knob on my car.

And thought as the MGB normally have wooden steering wheels (well that’s what I think but I’m sure you can put me straight if I’m wrong) love to learn new things.

If you have any advise/guidance I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hi Neil
If it's a Mota lita wheel (they have always signed their wheels on one of the spokes) try contacting them via https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/. They might be able to help anyway!
MGB were never fitted with wood rimmed steering wheels as standard so it will be an after market one. You could do it yourself but would need to find a varnish that is suitable. Professional refurbishment might cost nearly as much as a new which is an option if you have the boss - one unless it is a Nardi wheel!
For the gear knob just buy a new one as they are cheap enough not to bother with refurbishing.
As a cautionary note - wooden steering wheels can inflict terrible injuries in a crash as the splinter very badly.
