Soundproofing done wrong

I put some soundproofing under the mgb bonnet last week but realise that I glued it the wrong way round. Rather than waste time and money trying to take it of and put a new one on,would it be safe to stick some heat proof fabric on top of it to prevent possible ignition of the soundproofing?
See picture, the sticky black lining should show,not the fibrous material.

Remy, I'm not sure what kind of material that is? There are specific kits to use under the bonnet and that's what I would recommend.
Having "sticky black lining" on the outside doesn't sound right to me?

Hi Ian,

I got it from MGOC, after being told on some forums that it was the wrong way round I rang them and they confirmed that the fabric should be glued to the bonnet, the black adhesive side being there to stick it to the small ledge inside the bonnet.
I was thinking of lining it with thin heat resistant material rather than spending time ripping it off.

Remy, thanks for clarifying that. I can't really offer any advice as I'm not sure of what the materials are made from.
I think I would ask MGOC, and follow what they advise?

Yes, I’ll try to take it off without damaging it to much so I can re use it. If not I’ll order another one and learn from my mistake!
