Re: Inexistent horn bullet terminal

Peter, see Clausager - top of page 146 - "1971 model year Changes to all cars. horn push returned to steering wheel centre" Ian F Hi Ian, Thanks for pointing that out. I assumed that the Sept 1969 (1970 model year) was the point of the change and I didn't read any further on. Cheers Pete

Re: Inexistent horn bullet terminal

...and my 1969 Roadster has the earlier steering column and the horn button on the stalk! This might show that the stalk can be easily swapped for a later one.
I have looked up the parts in the Moss catalogue and they give the change point for the stalk as Clausager

Re: Inexistent horn bullet terminal

Hi Remy, I thought by 1970 the horn was operated by pushing the end of the indicator stalk. This seems to be confirmed by Clausager that from September 1969 a new column stalk was introduced that operated the indicators, headlight main beam and flash and the horn. The change was from car number 1871...

Re: Changing brake discs

As you need to remove the hub to remove the disc you will need to reset the end float when the hub is refitted. If it is just to clean the discs up you might be able to do what is necessary without removing them completely.

Re: Gearbox Oil Additive

Generally I would say don't put any friction reducing additive in a gearbox, whether it has overdrive or not, The synchro cones rely on an amount of friction to work and in an overdrive there is a cone clutch with a friction material lining so need friction to work. In the early 1990s I used a Toyot...

Re: Hello and any advice welcome

Hi Bri, Welcome to MGB Ownership and I hope you will use this forum as often as you need. There is a wealth of knowledge behind this unassuming facade! I note your engine was totally reconditioned in 1995 so I would suggest (unless you have evidence to show it's been done) you put getting the cylind...

Gerry Brown

I was very saddened to hear this morning that Gerry Brown passed away a few days ago. I had known Gerry since 1969 when he started racing his MG TC, the same year I started with a TD. As I moved on to race a TC myself and the cars became faster, I had many a fine battle in the T-Type races through t...

Re: agreed value insurance

Hi Ian To pick up on some of the points you have raised. Agreed Value and Salvage Retention - You will not have the right to retain any car that has been written off in Categories A or B (of the current list) as these have to be destroyed. In the case of a Category B write off I believe the dismantl...

Re: agreed value insurance

At first glance it appears that 'Market Value' would not be a problem. However the market value of many classic cars is lower the the sum of the parts needed to repair it. As an straightforward example, a car professionally rebuilt into a Heritage shell would cost around £35,000, but its market valu...
