Re: Thermal switch (URP1126) not playing properly

Phil, If the car didn't come with the A5 sized handbook , it is worth getting hold of one. It covers all the main routine service areas of the car. The later ones (covering the last couple of years) are harder to come by as i think only the ones previously are available as faithful copies. The MGB R...

Re: Thermal switch (URP1126) not playing properly

Yes you are correct Vic, If the later one to URP1126 means a KTP9003 type then Phil, will also need a stepped sealing ring KTP9005 & Clip KTP9006. Incidental note re possible further air pockets - ensure the heater control valve is open when filling the block via the thermostat hole with coolant...

Re: Thermal switch (URP1126) not playing properly

Phil, I note that you have a 1979 MGB. There was a change in the otter switch for the fan from URP1126 to KTP9003 sometime during the 1979 model year (from GHN/D5 511291). I don't know if this would have any implications for you as to when the respective ones were designed to cut in. Certainly the w...

Re: Thermal switch (URP1126) not playing properly

Vic, There is a voltage stabiliser within the wiring. I know because i have checked the wiring to mine when i had a problem with the fuel gauge & checked out the contacts there before identifying the problem as a corroded contact at the fuel tank sender end. Easily seen on the late Haynes wiring...

Re: ARB Links are Handed - a reminder

20210427_164506.jpg 20210427_164506.jpg I meant to post up a picture of the links i removed earlier. The one on the right (or top) is in fact the RH link that was installed on the left side (looking towards the front of the car (passenger in UK car) & vice versa. You can see that the link bolts...

ARB Links are Handed - a reminder

Guys, I'm sure all the experts on this site are well aware of this, but I thought it might be worth posting this up! During my shake down runs in April following refurbishing the rear suspension & also changing the front ARB bushes for Poly from original rubber to match the rear i became increas...

Re: MOT Exemption.

Vic,
A further update.
I checked up on the DVLA site last night with my car's registration pending return of an updated V5. It shows that it is taxed for the year commencing 1 April 2021 & that "No Results Returned " in respect of MOT as per your last post on 3 April.
Cheers,
Charles

Re: MOT Exemption.

Guys, Just reviving an old thread. Don't forget the 1 April following the year in which your car reaches 40 years of being registered. I have just returned from the Post Office , having signed my V5 to register a change to historic class for my August 1980 registered car (unmodified with original sh...
