Re: Lucas distributor thrust washers

I looked on their website where they have other distributor parts but not thrust washers. I give them a call.

Lucas distributor thrust washers

Earlier today I stripped down a distributor that I was planning to use. The trust washers in it are worn and as there is vertical shaft movement I would like to replace them. I have had a look at the websites of the normal suspects and I can't find such parts for sale. Can anyone point me towards a ...

Re: Hood windows

Thanks for the ideas. As I have some T-Cut equivalent on the shelf already I will try that first but then Plast RX if I need to.

Hood windows

The windows in my car's hood are looking rather scuffed and hence difficult to see through clearly. Has anyone been successful in improving their hood windows? What did you use?

Re: MGB Seats

I can confirm what Grumpy2 has said that it is a difficult job fitting MGF seats in a B. That is why people say they fit in a Midget but not a B I removed the MGF mounting brackets from the bottom of the runners. Then I welded 20mm x 5mm steel strip across between the runners so that I could use the...

Resistor plugs with suppression leads

I have 8mm suppression leads from Accuspark on my B. The spark plugs I was using were NGK BP6ES. Unfortunately, I have now managed to buy the resistor model BPR6ES.

Clearly, the resistor function in the plug is unnecessary as I have the suppression leads but will it be a problem? Eg weaker spark.

Re: 2 litre engine and 5 speed mazda gear box

My B has a 2709 head with the standard valves. I always use super unleaded. Tesco 99 octane if I can get it. When I get around to it I will take the head off again to double check for sharp edges. I thought I had done them all. On the dizzy front, my mechanical one is a 41288 which I use with 10 deg...

Re: Wipac headlights

I fitted Wipac halogen headlamps to my B a number of years ago. While I did not have the problem you have had (Could it just be damp), I was disappointed until I added relays to the circuit and took the full load away from the light switch and the main loom. The relays were fed from one of the alter...

Re: 2 litre engine and 5 speed mazda gear box

If you are interested in a modified MGB engine it may be worth your while reading Peter Burgess's book on modifying MGB engines. My car has been rebored to 1870cc and has a compression ratio of 10.6:1. I approximately followed Peter's standard class compliant recipe. This gives plenty of torque but ...

Re: MGB Seats

Hello John,

Sorry I didn't check fro replies earlier. Had a look at the Marathon car earlier this afternoon and also at the HRCR Open Day.

Very happy to donate the seats. I can bring them along to Race Retro..
