Had a little Sunday morning run out to Dearnford Lake near Whitchurch, Shropshire, lovely spot, lake to have a walk around, very nice cafe. Car running really well after passing her MOT, no advisories. :)

Had a good outing with the B yesterday, covering over 170 miles surveying our natter groups Autumn Tour. It needed a good wash from top to bottom today to be ready for the MoT tomorrow morning!

The Midland Centre Stone Natter held it's Autumn Tour last Saturday which I organised. It attracted full entry of classic and more modern cars with a good selection of MGs ranging from a 1953 TD to nice 2003 TF and including several MGBs (amongst the my own 1969 B roadster). The start and finish was at the George and Dragon, Stone where the monthly meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month. The 170 mile route went to Halfpenny Green Vineyards for Morning Coffee, then after crossing the River Severn at Bridgnorth and climbing over Clee Hill to a lunch stop at The Lion in Leintwardine. The first part of the afternoon used about 18 miles of roads over the Long Mynd, before heading to Ironbridge for Afternoon Tea. This was followed by a run back to the finish for a chat and a well earned drink. A grand day out!

Some pictures from the day:

Nice one - looked a great day out on your run.

One of the problems of an early MGB with a hardtop fisted is the lack of an interior light.

On Sunday I went to Lidls and saw for £2.99 a pair of LED light strips - simple push on the cover for on /off with an adhesive pad.

Stuck it on the roof lining now have a decent interior light. Also have a spare!

It was a nice afternoon up here in Staffordshire, so I went out to finalise part of the route for the Midland Centre, Stone Natter Drive it day route. Part of the route as originally planned was very rough - even though it used 'Yellows' on the OS map! So a re-route was necessary. An interesting scenic route of around 70 miles calling at the National Brewery Centre for lunch and private tour. This was taken this afternoon (16 April) about 10 miles from the end.

I have organised a display of 6 MGs and 14 other cars to attend the Stone Festival. This is a week long annual festival which culminates in a carnival day at the end of the week. This was under the banner of 'Stone Classic Car Group' which is a monthly meeting I organise for classic cars in the area, and incorporates the MGCC Midland Centre Stone Natter along with a similar for the Mini Cooper Register and the CSMA Classic Vehicle Group. The meeting has been running for 6 years come July and puts the emphasis on using and enjoying classic cars.

So my MGB got all dressed up for the parade through the town and posing in the display in the park. A feature was 6 MGs that represented the sports car models using the Issigonis designed front suspension from the 1950s (a 1954 TF) to the RV8. Other cars in the display ranged from a 1934 Austin Nippy to a 1988 Porsche 911 Targa.

I was out with the B yesterday finishing off the roadbook for the Stone Natters annual tour which is on Saturday August 13th. The weather wasn't good in the Staffordshire Moorland and the Peak District yesterday with rain until mid afternoon, and low visibility on the higher roads. Hopefully the actual run will be in much better weather! So after 140 miles (of stopping at every junction!) the car was suitably travel stained as you can see pictured this morning at a local breakfast meeting. If anyone reading this would like to join us on the 13th, I have just 6 places (of 40) left, so please get in touch - [email protected]

That picture of an AA box may answer a question I have had for a while. On my key ring I still have an AA key and I was wondering if it is of any use.

Took my B to the Silverstone Classic on Friday. Yet again I did not book early enough to get in the club parking in the middle of the track. Must try harder next year. Had and interesting chat with someone with a black B in one of the International pit garages.

It was the first good run the car had had since I switched back to points and centrifugal advance after my Aldon Amerthyst stopped working. The car went well enough. Just not quite as steady at idle and a little less pull at the top end.
