Fitting Oil/Temp gauge in dashboard
The oil/temp (combined) gauge needs replacing in my MGB GT and I have a new one from Rimmer. But how do I get the old one out and new one in please? There is not exactly a lot of space to get behind it in the dashboard. What's the trick please?

Prepare for skinned knuckles! I find it impossible to do with gloves on.
Assuming your B is like my 1972 one, reach up behind the dash until you find the back of the gauge. It is held in place with a square "U" shaped bracket which braces it against the back of the dash. It in turn is held be a small knurled nut which you undo with your fingers. The gauge should then push out forwards.
You may have difficulty unscrewing the capillary nut from the cylinder head. Try not to twist the capillary as you unscrew the nut.
