We have just arrived home from an excellent day at Shelsley Walsh and wish to thank all Committee Members who were involved in organising a most enjoyable day.
It was particularly nice for us being allowed to have a drive up the hill and now admire the modern drivers and cars; the record is 22.58 seconds which is an average speed of 90.52 m.p.h.

I would like to echo Hugh and Gillian's thanks. What a great day at a fantastic venue. It has been 16 years since I was last at Shelsley and what a lovely way to return to this stunning location with a unique atmosphere. To drive up the hill was the icing on the cake and I would like to thank all those involved from the B Register for making BGT50 a very memorable event.
Huge thanks to you all from Graham Wilkins and Paul Money.

Yes - a great day out! A few pics of the assembled MGBs celebrating the GTs 50th.

So pleased that everyone enjoyed Shelsley Walsh and my thanks to Bernard,Chris and Lesley who helped so much on the day. We had around 48 pre-booked attendees but a total of over 80 on the day which presented Bernard with a real challenge in organising the parking. Nevertheless the Midland Automobile Club did us proud with the best parking area and allowing 20 MG's to run up the hill (rather than the 10 cars originally indicated to us ).
I think we introduced several people to speed hill climbing for the first time, and judging from their comments plus those who have been to hillclimbs before, I think we would get plenty of support if we organised another meeting at Shelsley, maybe at their Nostalgia Event next year.
This was not only the 50th anniversary of the GT but also the 110th anniversary of this event at Shelsley.
I hope you saw the 1911 Sunbeam on the hill and in the paddock where there was a photo of this very same car on the Shelsley start line in 1913 ! The driver told me the car still has the original valves. A bit of a contrast to today's top cars reaching 130mph on the steep narrow hill and around 143 mph over the finish line.
