Hi all,
My 1978 MGB has got an original black dashboard, but unfirchnately it's got little holes in it where it's had a plastic wooden trim fitted. Now then, I am wanting to fill the holes and spray it with wrinckle black finish. My problem is, with it being a later model and plastic, will the paint work????
If not can anyone suggest any alternatives ? :)
Many thanks in advance,
Tim

Hi Tim - Firstly I do not know. But there are companies that will exchange your old dash for a reworked one, not certain who, a job for google
Hope this helps

The original crinkle finish plastic dashboards on post 77 cars was a moulded finish. They were never painted.
Finding the right paint to get the effect you want on plastic is going into the unknown as cackle black paint on the market is meant for painting on metal.
The best solution for your problem would be to see out a plastic dash without holes - they come up on eBay from time to time for not much money - a friend recently sold a nice one for £15 there.

I obtained an exchange/replacement dash for my B from John Benton, “Mr B MG Spares”, a few years ago and it was a perfect match/finish.
He works, or used to?, at Moss-Europe in Manchester 0161 480 6402.
If you are successful please give him my regards.
