Hello. I've been reading Roger Williams' V8 Power book, and there is masses of information there.
However I wonder if anyone could help with some measurements.
I need:-
the length of an overdrive gearbox from bellhousing to drive flange,
the engine length from bellhousing plate to engine mounting plate,
the engine width at the sump.

I assume you mean for an 1800 4-pot, not a V8.
